Job Purpose:
To ensure comprehensive and compassionate care, supporting patients and healthcare professionals, and contributing to a positive and effective care environment.
Key Responsibilities And Duties
- Ensures the clinic or procedure room is fully equipped with all necessary instruments, devices, and supplies, maintaining readiness for patient care.
- Conducts comprehensive assessments of patients, including vital signs, medical history, fall risk evaluations, and screening for symptoms of infectious diseases. Document findings accurately and apply necessary precautions.
- Supports physicians during patient examinations and clinic-based procedures, prioritizing patient comfort and safety throughout the process.
- Coordinates and schedule follow-up appointments, referrals to specialists, and necessary diagnostic tests, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
- Monitors and manages medical supplies and equipment, ensuring the outpatient department (OPD) is adequately stocked. Implement efficient usage practices and confirm that all services are paid for prior to procedures.
- Accurately records vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, pain level, oxygen saturation, and blood pressure, along with anthropometric measurements.
- Documents patient information and care activities meticulously in the system, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.
- Collaborates effectively with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare team members to support patient care plans and ensure coordinated delivery of care.
- Performs simple dressing changes as required, maintaining adherence to infection control protocols.
- Administers topical applications and eye drops with precision, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Conducts point-of-care testing as necessary, following established protocols and procedures.
- Ensures accurate charging for services rendered to patients, tracking and managing stock usage against the unit's inventory.
- Regularly monitors supply levels and check expiration dates of medications and instruments, ensuring timely replenishment.
- Informs the Nurse Manager of any deficits or nearly expired supplies to facilitate timely requests for replenishment from the main store.
- Takes appropriate actions in urgent or unexpected situations within the scope of routine responsibilities, ensuring patient safety.
- Identifies and reports defective or broken equipment, facility maintenance issues, and safety or environmental hazards to the appropriate personnel.
- Floats and covers other units as needed, completing tasks assigned by the Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager based on competency and availability.
- Works rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and remain available on call as required to meet departmental needs.
- Keeps current with professional development requirements to enhance knowledge, skills, and practice in the clinical setting.
- Maintains patient confidentiality, ensuring that sensitive information is kept secure and private.
- Assists patients with mobility needs, including transferring them between beds, chairs, and other locations, as well as aiding with walking or the use of mobility aids.
- Reports any incidents or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel and assist with necessary follow-up actions to promote a safe environment.

Experience
- 1 year of experience as a Patient Care Assistant
- Transition to practice program for fresh graduates from relevant program
Education
Training program as Patient Care Assistant / Diploma in Nursing or in the same field
Language
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, and Arabic is desirable
Licenses / Certifications
License from the country of origin, License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. (SCFHS / DHA), BLS, ACLS and other LSTC courses as applicable.
