Role Overview

The Payroll Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. This role also handles payroll accounting, reconciliations, and reporting to support financial accuracy and transparency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain and update payroll files and documentation (salaries, benefits, deductions, bonuses, overtime)
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies
  • Prepare and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger
  • Handle statutory filings such as taxes, social security, and insurance and ensure remittances and payments are in line with local requirements
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate with HR regarding employee data, onboarding, and terminations
  • Prepare payroll reports for management and support internal and external audits related to payroll
  • Monitor and improve payroll processes and internal controls

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll within international companies or professional services firms
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and accounting principles
  • Familiarity with tax regulations and labor laws
  • Knowledge of international payroll processes (for multinational companies)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero or similar systems)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
