Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Petrophysicist is a key technical contributor responsible for delivering highquality subsurface characterization and field development planning across brownfields, reactivation projects, drilling campaigns, IOR/EOR programs, and reservoir surveillance activities. They supervise and integrate all petrophysical data (Wireline, LWD, core, SCAL) to support reservoir models and ensure accurate reserves delivery, with strong multidisciplinary integration across geology, geophysics, production, and reservoir engineering. The role includes advanced carbonate reservoir evaluation, complex poresystem characterization, and dualporosity modeling.

Responsibilities Petrophysical Data Acquisition & QC

  • Lead planning, acquisition, QC and interpretation of petrophysical data from Wireline and LWD tools.
  • Special focus on advanced measurements (NMR, Dielectric, Spectroscopy, Image Logs).
  • Build, maintain and QC well log databases, including editing and normalization of vintage datasets.

Responsibilities MultiWell Interpretation

  • Deliver multiwell batch interpretation in Techlog.
  • Build robust petrophysical models supported by exhaustive rock typing.
  • Reconcile multimineral models (e.g., ELAN) with simple porosity models for saturation consistency.
  • Propagate rock types using machinelearning/neuralnetwork methods.

Responsibilities Carbonate Reservoir Focus

  • Conduct advanced interpretation in heterogeneous carbonate systems (vuggy, moldic, intercrystalline, fractures).
  • Build and apply carbonatespecific rock typing (e.g., Lucia classification).
  • Design and interpret carbonatefocused SCAL programs.
  • Construct saturationheight models (MICP, NMR PSD, SCAL integration).
  • Support fracture modelling and DFN integration.
  • Provide petrophysical input for drilling hazards (lost circulation, karst, fractured intervals).

Responsibilities Porous Media Characterization

  • Integrate core analysis, NMR, petrography, thin sections, SEM, and image logs.
  • Validate core datasets and drive SCAL programs.
  • Identify waterentry mechanisms using reservoir description and production behavior.

Responsibilities Integration with Subsurface Teams

  • Provide inputs to static and dynamic reservoir models.
  • Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists and reservoir engineers on facies modeling and seismic attribute interpretation.
  • Support FDP, IOR/EOR, redevelopment and surveillance studies.
  • Contribute to well prognosis, drilling proposals, well placement and workover opportunities.

Responsibilities CasedHole & Production Data Integration

  • Integrate openhole and casedhole datasets for saturation, spectroscopy, PLT and cement evaluation.
  • Use OFM production data to support hydraulic unit and multiwell correlations.

Process & Planning

  • Document lessons learned and maintain updated activity plans.
  • Maintain and enhance petrophysical workflows and technical assurance processes.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Comply with all corporate policies and HSE standards.
  • Ensure petrophysical activity risks are addressed.
  • Promote safety culture and ensure training compliance for team members.

People Responsibilities

  • Mentor junior petrophysicists and geoscientists.
  • Provide QA/QC oversight and knowledge transfer.

Relationships

Reports to the G&G Team Lead or Subsurface Manager.

Key Behavioral Elements

  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong HSE commitment.
  • Excellent communication.
  • High initiative and motivation.
  • Teamoriented and collaborative.
  • Goaldriven mindset.

Qualifications / Experience

  • 15+ years petrophysical experience with significant carbonate reservoir exposure.
  • Expertise in advanced log interpretation (image logs, NMR, dielectric, spectroscopy).
  • Strong understanding of carbonate diagenesis, pore systems and fractured reservoirs.
  • Proven experience designing and interpreting SCAL programs.
  • Proficiency in Techlog, IP, Petrel, OFM.
  • Strong integration skills across geology, geophysics and reservoir engineering.
  • Experience in FDP, IOR/EOR, reservoir characterization and reserves evaluation.
