Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technician work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist according to the regulation of ministry of health. To Implement national and international standards.
- Assists pharmacists in filling pharmacy requisitions, prescriptions, cassette fillings, and in maintaining records.
- Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations.
- Prepackages tablets and capsules for inpatient and outpatient dispensing, Labels the prepackaged product and completes the appropriate records.
- Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products, operates manufacturing equipment. Follows worksheet to prepare products.
- Assists in the preparation of intravenous solution. Reconstitutes bulk additives and prepares batches of selected admixtures.
- Maintains proper inventory of drugs. Monitors expiration dates. Refill crash box. Maintains necessary records.
- Develops and co-ordinates the Quality Improvement Program within his/her area of responsibilities.
- Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions.
- Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the range of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities as directed by Pharmacy Supervisor and/or Pharmacy Manager.
Requirements:
- Essential: Knowledge of computers, pharmacy calculations, pharmacy and medical terminology and drug classifications.
- Desirable: two (2) years experience in Hospital pharmacy.
- Essential: Diploma in Pharmacy form accredited school of pharmacy with available professional registration certificate
- Desirable: Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
