We are hiring Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians, or physiatrists, diagnose and treat conditions affecting the brain, spine, nerves, bones, muscles, and tendons, focusing on maximizing function and quality of life after injury, illness, or disability, through non-surgical approaches like medications, therapies, assistive devices , procedures, and coordinating comprehensive care with other specialists for a holistic, patient-centered recovery.
Core Responsibilities:
- Diagnosis & Assessment: Evaluate physical, cognitive, and functional impairments from conditions like stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, arthritis, and sports injuries.
- Treatment Planning: Develop holistic plans using therapies (PT, OT, speech), medications, lifestyle adjustments, and adaptive equipment.
- Functional Restoration: Prescribe interventions to improve movement, manage pain, address spasticity, and enhance daily living activities (bathing, dressing).
- Procedural Skills: Perform nerve conduction studies (NCS), electromyography (EMG), and administer injections (e.g., Botox for spasticity).
- Equipment Prescription: Prescribe wheelchairs, walkers, orthotics (braces/splints), and prosthetics.
- Team Collaboration: Work with physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, neurologists, orthopedists, and psychologists.
- Patient & Family Education: Teach patients and caregivers strategies for adapting to disability and lifestyle changes.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Neurological Rehabilitation: Stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis.
- Musculoskeletal & Sports Medicine: Back pain, nerve pain, joint issues, work-related injuries.
- Pain Management: Chronic pain, including techniques beyond just medication.
- Pediatric Rehabilitation: Developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy.
