Overview
Our client is a fast-growing commodities trading house seeking an experienced Physical Oil Trader to expand and develop its crude oil and/or refined products trading business. This role will be responsible for originating, executing, and managing physical oil trading opportunities while building long-term relationships with counterparties across the value chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute profitable physical trading strategies across crude oil and refined petroleum products.
- Originate new trading opportunities and establish commercial relationships with producers, refiners, national oil companies, distributors, and end-users.
- Negotiate and conclude spot and term contracts with suppliers and customers.
- Identify arbitrage opportunities across regional and international markets.
- Manage trading positions, exposure, and risk in line with company guidelines.
- Work closely with operations, chartering, finance, and risk teams to ensure smooth execution of transactions.
- Monitor market fundamentals, pricing dynamics, freight markets, and geopolitical developments impacting oil markets.
- Contribute to the growth and expansion of the company's global physical trading platform.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Proven track record in physical crude oil and/or refined products trading.
- Strong network of industry relationships across suppliers, customers, brokers, and trading counterparties.
- Demonstrated ability to originate and execute profitable trading transactions.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of global oil market dynamics.
- Experience managing risk, logistics, and trade execution processes.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing and dynamic environment.
Preferred Profile
- Existing portfolio of customers and suppliers within the oil trading ecosystem.
- Experience trading products such as gasoil, gasoline, naphtha, jet fuel, crude oil, or feedstocks.
- Strong understanding of regional Asia-Pacific markets and international trade flows.
