Position Summary:
Perform hands-on piping and layout design for industrial plants (e.g., oil & gas, power, water, chemicals) under supervision. Produce compliant 2D/3D deliverables, perform basic calculations, resolve clashes, and coordinate with disciplines to support safe, constructible designs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop 3D piping models (process/utility lines) using the designated platform (e.g., E3D/PDMS, Plant 3D, Smart 3D).
- Prepare layout drawings (equipment layout, piping GA, isometrics, pipe supports locations) per project standards.
- Generate piping isometrics with BOQs/MTOs and annotate welding, fittings, and valve lists.
- Perform basic pipe sizing and wall thickness calculations per ASME B31 codes with guidance.
- Execute clash detection and raise clash reports; implement approved clash resolutions.
- Prepare piping support sketches and coordinate with civil/structural for foundations and loads.
- Apply line list, P&IDs, and spec break rules to maintain spec compliance.
- Incorporate accessibility, maintenance, constructability, and safety (e.g., egress, headroom, hot surfaces) in layout.
- Assist with vendor data incorporation (nozzles, interfaces, tie-ins) and update models accordingly.
- Produce as-built markups from redlines and site feedback.
- Participate in model reviews (30/60/90%) and address comments promptly.
- Support RFI preparation and respond to site queries with senior oversight.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors in mechanical engineering.
- Solid understanding of ASME B31 codes, piping materials, and layout standards.
- 2+ years of experience with consulting firms
- Strong in E3D/PDMS or Smart 3D or Plant 3D; AutoCAD; Navisworks Manage/Simulate; MTO/extraction tools.
- Familiarity with stress tools interface (e.g., CAESAR II data exchange conceptually).
