Job Summary
The Planning and Cost Control Engineer is responsible for assisting in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost monitoring to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. The role involves preparing and updating schedules, tracking project expenditures, and supporting management with accurate cost and progress reports for effective decision-making.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
Develop and update cost estimates, budgets, and cash flow projections throughout all project stages.
Monitor and analyze actual costs versus budgeted costs, highlighting variances and potential issues.
Support earned value management (EVM) and prepare progress performance reports.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment with schedules and budgets.
Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in managing the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and resource allocation plans.
Participate in the review of contractor invoices and validate quantities and cost claims.
Support risk and change management by assessing cost and schedule impacts.
Maintain accurate and organized project documentation for planning and cost control activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 25 years of experience in project planning and cost control.
Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, and charts).
Knowledge of project management principles, cost estimation, and progress measurement techniques. PMP, PSP, or CCP certification is an added advantage.
English Language (Excellent).
