Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Planning Engineer to join our dynamic team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, integrating, and monitoring comprehensive project schedules while providing strategic insights to ensure successful project delivery. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders to identify schedule risks, track progress, and implement corrective measures that keep projects on track and within scope. - Develop, maintain, and integrate master schedules covering all project phases including engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover
- Review and validate contractor work breakdown structures and multi-level schedules (Level 1 through Level 4) for accuracy and completeness
- Establish and implement progress measurement methodologies aligned with project requirements, contractual milestones, and schedule of values
- Monitor critical and near-critical activities, identify emerging schedule risks, and provide early warning of potential deviations and resource constraints
- Prepare and analyze planned versus actual S-curves, resource histograms, look-ahead schedules, and milestone trackers for management review
- Review weekly, monthly, and three-month look-ahead schedules submitted by contractors and verify alignment with the integrated master schedule
- Verify reported physical progress through site records, documentation review, and coordination with field teams to ensure accuracy
- Analyze schedule slippage, delays, and performance trends; recommend corrective, recovery, and acceleration measures
- Support evaluation of extension-of-time claims through comprehensive delay-event chronology and schedule-impact analysis
- Track long-lead equipment procurement, manufacturing, dispatch, site receipt, and installation to ensure timely project delivery
- Integrate multiple project section schedules with interface requirements including technical, operational, and energization dependencies
- Maintain and update schedule-related assumptions, constraints, risk registers, and delay logs throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare management dashboards, executive summaries, and detailed schedule narratives for periodic progress reports and stakeholder communications
- Support invoice certification and payment processing by verifying achievement of schedule-linked milestones and contractual requirements
- Collaborate with project teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and optimize resource allocation across project activities
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or equivalent discipline
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in planning, scheduling, and control of large-scale infrastructure or construction projects
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or other approved enterprise project-planning software
- Demonstrated expertise in critical path analysis, delay analysis, and schedule-impact assessment
- Strong knowledge of progress measurement methodologies and earned-value management principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and data visualization tools for schedule reporting and analysis
- Solid understanding of work breakdown structures (WBS), activity logic, resource loading, and schedule constraints
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex project data and identify trends
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and present findings to senior management
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, contractors, and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management and managing competing project priorities
- Knowledge of project management methodologies such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 is preferred
- Familiarity with infrastructure, power, or heavy industrial projects is highly desirable
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple schedules simultaneously
- Proficiency in time management and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Experience with schedule recovery planning and acceleration strategies
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while remaining flexible and adaptable to changing project requirements
