Objective:
The Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, monitoring, and controlling the project schedules throughout the full project lifecycle, from design and procurement to construction, commissioning, and project close-out.
The role ensures effective planning, progress tracking, forecasting, and reporting in line with EPC project requirements, Primavera P6 standards, and Client / Consultant contractual obligations, supporting timely and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, prepare, and maintain the Project Baseline Schedule (Level 2 & Level 3) using Primavera P6.
Update project schedules regularly and perform schedule forecasting in coordination with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams.
Monitor project progress and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly planning reports.
Prepare and analyze look-ahead schedules, critical path activities, and recovery plans.
Develop and update S-Curves for Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, and overall project progress.
Track engineering deliverables, procurement activities, manufacturing, FAT, delivery, and site installation milestones.
Identify schedule risks, delays, and potential impacts; propose mitigation and corrective actions.
Conduct schedule risk analysis when required and maintain the project Risk Register related to time and planning.
Monitor and assess the impact of variations, scope changes, and change orders on the project schedule and report to the Project Management Team.
Support preparation of Client / Consultant planning submissions and progress reports in accordance with contract requirements.
Participate in project progress meetings and planning coordination meetings.
Coordinate closely with all stakeholders to ensure accurate progress measurement and reporting.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Head of Department.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent).
Professional Certifications (Preferred):
Primavera P6 Professional Certification.
PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) or equivalent (advantageous but not mandatory).
Experience:
812 years of relevant experience as a Planning Engineer.
Proven experience in EPC, infrastructure, or industrial construction projects.
Experience in water, desalination, RO plants, power, or oil & gas projects is an advantage.
Experience in Saudi Arabia or GCC projects is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 (latest version).
Working knowledge of MS Project.
Strong proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Solid understanding of EPC project planning, scheduling logic, and progress measurement techniques.
Experience in preparation of schedules, reports, S-curves, and dashboards.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
