Planning Engineer
Are you an experienced Planning Engineer with a strong background in EPC projects within the Oil & Gas industry We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team and play a key role in driving successful project delivery across complex engineering and construction environments.
As a Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and controlling project schedules while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards. You will collaborate closely with project teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to monitor progress, manage risks, and support project execution across various sectors.

Your Role
As Planning Engineer, you will have the following areas of accountabilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and other planning tools.
- Establish project baselines, milestones, and critical path activities.
- Ensure schedules accurately reflect all project phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Integrate subcontractor, vendor, and supplier schedules into the master project schedule.
- Update schedules regularly to reflect project changes, scope modifications, and resource requirements.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor project performance against approved baselines.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports highlighting project status, risks, delays, and recovery actions.
- Conduct Critical Path Analysis and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Identify schedule variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Support project teams with forecasting and schedule recovery planning.
Resource Planning & Optimization
- Coordinate resource allocation across multiple projects and disciplines.
- Monitor workforce, equipment, and material utilization.
- Identify potential resource conflicts and propose optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with civil, marine, power, oil & gas, and plant teams to ensure efficient resource planning.
Risk & Change Management
- Identify schedule-related risks and opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of mitigation strategies.
- Maintain schedule risk registers and monitor mitigation actions.
- Evaluate the impact of scope changes and change orders on project timelines.
- Assist in developing recovery plans and revised schedules when required.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning teams.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide planning insights.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with project timelines.
- Communicate schedule updates effectively across all project stakeholders.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain all planning documentation and project records.
- Ensure compliance with project requirements, quality standards, and HSE guidelines.
- Support audits, client reviews, and project controls reporting requirements.
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 6-8 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
- Proven experience in EPC projects within the Oil & Gas industry.
- Exposure to multi-sector projects including Civil, Marine, Power, and Industrial/Plant environments.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex project schedules from concept through commissioning.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification is an advantage.
- Additional project controls or scheduling certifications (e.g., AACE) will be highly regarded.
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project and project planning tools.
- Sound understanding of: Project Controls, Earned Value Management (EVM), Critical Path Method (CPM), Resource Planning & Leveling, Risk Analysis & Mitigation, Schedule Forecasting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and perform effectively under pressure.
