Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Planning Section Head to lead project planning and scheduling across major construction works. This role is critical to ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules (baseline and updates)
  • Monitor progress and analyse delays, risks, and opportunities
  • Provide accurate short-term and long-term look-ahead programmes
  • Lead programme risk workshops and mitigation planning
  • Interface with commercial teams on claims, variations, and EOTs
  • Ensure planning standards, processes, and reporting are maintained
  • Support tender planning and pre-construction activities
  • Mentor and guide project planners and engineers

Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Planning Manager or Senior Planner in construction

Strong knowledge of construction sequencing and methodologies

Proficiency in planning software (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project)

Experience on large-scale infrastructure, building, or civil projects

Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities

Qualifications

Degree in Engineering

Relevant professional certification (desirable)
