Responsibilities
- Operations & Production Management
- Lead end-to-end plant operations to achieve production targets (volume, yield, efficiency, service level).
- Ensure strict adherence to production plans and optimize labor, materials, and asset utilization.
- Drive OEE improvement through structured loss analysis and performance management.
- Ensure consistent product quality in full compliance with internal specifications and regulatory standards.
- Embed a right first time and zero-defect culture across all lines.
2. Health, Safety & Food Safety Leadership (Critical Priority)
- Own and lead the HSE and Food Safety agenda across the plant with zero tolerance for non-compliance.
- Ensure full compliance with all local regulations and global standards (HACCP, ISO 22000, BRC, GMP).
- Drive a zero-harm culture and proactively reduce risks through hazard identification and mitigation.
- Ensure all processes, equipment, and facilities are safety- and food safety-compliant before commissioning/use.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and closure of corrective/preventive actions.
- Ensure audit readiness and lead internal/external audits successfully.
3. Financial & Cost Control
- Own and manage the plant budget, including cost per ton, conversion cost, and overheads.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives while ensuring no compromise on safety or food safety standards.
- Monitor financial KPIs and implement corrective actions to meet targets.
4. Maintenance & Engineering Excellence
- Hold full accountability for maintenance performance and asset reliability.
- Ensure robust preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance systems are in place and followed.
- Drive reduction in unplanned downtime and breakdowns through reliability engineering.
- Ensure all equipment meets safety and food safety design and operational requirements.
- Lead capital investment projects, commissioning, and vertical startups.
- Track and improve key maintenance KPIs (Down times, maintenance cost, planned maintenance compliance).
5. Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a multi-functional team across production, maintenance, quality, and support functions.
- Build strong second-line leadership and succession pipelines.
- Drive a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure capability building in safety, food safety, and technical competencies.
6. Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Lead deployment of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies across the plant.
- Drive continuous improvement in productivity, waste reduction, and process stability.
- Implement structured problem-solving and performance review routines.
7. Stakeholder & Compliance Management
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, HR, Procurement, and Commercial teams to ensure business alignment.
- Manage suppliers, contractors, and third-party services ensuring compliance with safety and food safety standards.
- Act as the primary owner for all audits and regulatory inspections.
8. Crisis & Risk Management
- Lead response to operational disruptions, quality incidents, or safety risks.
- Ensure robust business continuity and risk mitigation plans are in place.
- Take decisive actions to protect people, product, and company reputation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Food Technology or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in FMCG manufacturing
- 3- 5 experience years in a Plant Manager / Factory Manager role
