Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Plumbing Design Engineer with experience in high-rise building projects (Burj Azizi tower project) in the UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, specifying, and coordinating plumbing systems for large-scale commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. This role requires proficiency in plumbing design software, knowledge of local codes and regulations (including Dubai Municipality and other relevant UAE authorities), and the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plumbing System Design & Development:

Lead the design of plumbing systems, including potable water systems, drainage systems, stormwater management, sewerage, and gas piping systems for high-rise buildings.

Perform hydraulic calculations for water supply systems, drainage, and firefighting systems to ensure efficient and reliable performance.

Design and specify plumbing systems and components such as water pumps, pipes, valves, fittings, drainage, and sanitary ware.

Ensure the plumbing design complies with all local codes and regulations, including Dubai Municipality, UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, and ASHRAE standards.

Develop plumbing layouts, schematics, and technical drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry standard tools.

Prepare detailed specifications, material lists, and equipment schedules for plumbing components.

2. Coordination with Other Disciplines:

Collaborate with structural, electrical, and HVAC teams to ensure plumbing systems are integrated smoothly into the overall design of the building. Coordinate with architects and other project stakeholders to ensure that plumbing systems are efficiently designed and integrated into the building's layout. Work closely with the MEP design team to ensure proper coordination of services, avoiding clashes, and optimizing system layouts, particularly in high-rise buildings.

3. Compliance with Regulations & Standards:

Ensure plumbing designs meet all local building codes, fire safety regulations, sustainability goals, and international standards (e.g., LEED, Estidama). AD/JDP/F/001 Page 2 of 4 18 Nov 2024 Revision No. 00 Technical Skills:

Proficiency in design and drafting software, particularly AutoCAD, Revit, and other related design tools.

Strong knowledge of hydraulic calculations for plumbing systems (e.g., water supply and drainage).

Familiarity with plumbing systems, including potable water, stormwater, drainage, sewage, gas piping, and fire protection systems.

Strong understanding of sustainable plumbing systems, water conservation methods, and green building practices (e.g., LEED, Estidama).

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues in plumbing designs.

Implement sustainable design practices, including water conservation measures, the use of energy-efficient plumbing equipment, and renewable resources where possible.

Stay updated on local regulations and codes and ensure that the plumbing designs comply with the latest updates to building and plumbing codes in the UAE.

4. Project Management Support:

Assist in cost estimation and budgeting for plumbing systems, ensuring that designs are cost-effective without compromising quality or functionality.

Assist with tender documentation, including preparing scope of work, specifications, and detailed drawings for contractor bids.

Monitor the progress of plumbing works on-site and ensure that installations are carried out as per the design specifications.

Provide support during project execution by reviewing shop drawings, contractor submittals, and coordinating responses to site queries or issues.

5. Quality Control & Testing:

Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with all requirements and high-quality standards.

Support the commissioning and testing phases of the project to verify the proper functioning of plumbing systems.

Conduct site inspections and visits to ensure the plumbing systems are installed according to design specifications and that there are no deviations or issues.

Perform trouble-shooting and provide technical support to the construction team for resolving any design related issues during the installation phase.

6. Documentation & Reporting:

Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including design calculations, material schedules, and specifications for plumbing systems.

Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and product data to ensure they align with the design specifications.

Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and final project documentation for handover to clients.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in design and drafting software, particularly AutoCAD, Revit, and other related design tools.
