Job Description

Role Title: PMO Consultant

Role Purpose

The PMO Consultant supports the effective governance, planning, execution, and performance management of IT projects and programs. The role ensures alignment with organizational strategy, standards, and quality requirements while enabling informed decision-making across the project portfolio.

Mandatory Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or a relevant professional qualification.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in technomanagement IT and/or business project management roles with broad IT exposure.
  • Hands-on experience with Project Management tools (e.g., EPM, MS Project) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Strong knowledge of project management frameworks, methodologies, and tools across the full lifecycle, including PRINCE2 and PMBOK (PMI).
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT projects across multiple business sectors, with an understanding of commercial and operational constraints.
  • Proven application of quality standards to ensure accurate, complete, and compliant deliverables.
  • Experience in management or professional roles with training in data and business analysis methods and techniques.
  • High standards of professional conduct when dealing with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Qatargas IT strategy, policies, standards, and applicable industry regulations and constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Demand Management

  • Assist in coordinating analysis, prioritization, approval, and execution monitoring of IT demands and projects.
  • Support structured documentation of IT demands, feasibility studies, business cases, and costbenefit/ROI analyses.
  • Coordinate approvals and ensure adherence to approved demand management processes.

Program & Project Governance

  • Support preparation and execution of portfolio and program management plans from demand approval through project closeout.
  • Provide a crossprogram view to ensure consistency, dependency management, and alignment across interrelated projects.
  • Assist program and project managers in applying PMO standards, processes, tools, and techniques.

PMO Standards & Continuous Improvement

  • Support formulation, maintenance, and enforcement of PMO strategies, processes, procedures, and tools in line with corporate standards.
  • Verify compliance with project delivery lifecycle standards, including business case quality and governance checkpoints.
  • Facilitate process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO.

Performance, Reporting & Control

  • Evaluate project performance against agreed targets and provide timely, accurate reporting.
  • Analyze performance gaps and coordinate corrective action discussions when projects deviate from plan.
  • Document compliance and noncompliance, and recommend improvements to control mechanisms.

Financial, Risk & Resource Oversight

  • Support reviews of project economics, including costs, budgets, resourcing, and risks.
  • Track expenditure and identify potential budget overruns.
  • Analyze and escalate variances exceeding agreed tolerances with recommendations for corrective action.

Quality Assurance & Knowledge Transfer

  • Carry out specific PMO and projectrelated assignments independently or as part of a team.
  • Provide quality assurance for project governance activities and ensure adherence to quality standards and policies.
  • Promote knowledge transfer and project management awareness across IT teams, business users, and delivery partners.

Benefits Realization

  • Coordinate with business owners during postimplementation to assess and measure realized benefits.
  • Define benefits measurement mechanisms and ensure timely activation.
  • Monitor benefits realization against approved business cases and report outcomes to key stakeholders
