I am seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to join my research group in the Chemical Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar, Doha, Qatar. This role focuses on the design and optimization of membrane-electrode assemblies (MEAs) for water electrolysis and resource recovery. The successful candidate will lead the development of ion-exchange membranes (AEM, CEM, BPM), high-performance MEAs, and advanced flow systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Synthesize and optimize a variety of ion-exchange membranes, including Anion (AEM), Cation (CEM), and Bipolar Membranes (BPM).
- Design and fabricate robust membrane-electrode assemblies (MEAs) tailored for specific electrochemical applications.
- Construct electrochemical flow systems and perform comprehensive characterization of membranes, focusing on ionic conductivity, water uptake, and ion transport kinetics.
- Evaluate system-level performance metrics, including current efficiency and energy consumption, long-term operational stability, scaling and fouling potential.
- Provide hands-on guidance and technical training to graduate and undergraduate students within the laboratory.
- Prepare technical reports and high-quality manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, and present findings at national and international technical conferences.
Candidate Qualifications
- PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in ion-exchange membrane synthesis and characterization and electrochemical cell design.
- Strong hands-on experience with flow-cells and electrochemical techniques.
- A track record of relevant publications in high-impact journals.
- Excellent English communication skills.
