Context

The assignment provides office-based precommissioning engineering for pipelines across a portfolio of the client's regional projects. The engineer prepares precommissioning and commissioning procedures, calculations, equipment definition and dossiers (flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrotesting, dewatering, drying, leak testing and reinstatement) and supports execution remotely. The role is office / hybrid, with no offshore work. Based in Abu Dhabi, for around 6 months.

Role overview

To deliver pipeline precommissioning and commissioning engineering (procedures, calculations, equipment definition and dossiers) across the client's regional pipeline projects, office-based, supporting execution remotely.

Reporting line: You will report to the precommissioning / commissioning lead within the client's engineering team, coordinating with the pipeline, process and construction disciplines.

Key responsibilities

Precommissioning engineering & procedures

Develop precommissioning and commissioning procedures for pipelines: flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrotesting, dewatering, drying, leak testing, nitrogen purging and reinstatement
Prepare precommissioning calculations and philosophies (fill and dewatering volumes, hydrotest pressures, pigging, drying)
Ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable industry codes and standards

Equipment & spread definition

Define and size precommissioning equipment and spreads (pumps, compressors, pigs, temporary equipment)
Prepare equipment specifications, datasheets and interfaces with the disciplines and vendors

Dossiers, execution support & close-out

Prepare precommissioning dossiers, ITPs and test packs
Support execution and provide remote technical assistance to site
Compile records and close-out documentation and resolve technical queries and NCRs

Key deliverables

Precommissioning and commissioning procedures delivered for pipelines
Precommissioning calculations (flooding, dewatering, hydrotest, drying) completed
Equipment specifications and spread definition issued
Precommissioning dossiers, ITPs and test packs prepared
Execution supported and close-out documentation compiled

Requirements

Engineering degree (mechanical, process, petroleum or related).

Must-have

Senior / expert (10+ years) in pipeline precommissioning and commissioning engineering
Precommissioning procedures and calculations (flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrotesting, dewatering, drying)
Precommissioning equipment and spread definition
Office-based engineering delivery for oil and gas pipeline projects

Nice-to-have:

Subsea / offshore pipeline precommissioning; Gulf region project experience

Technical skills

Pipeline precommissioning: flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrotesting, dewatering, drying, nitrogen purging
