We are recruiting a Principal Engineer - Hardware Design for a Permanent Position with a leading Defense Group.

- Technical Leadership
- Responsible for driving innovation, ensuring product quality, and providing technical leadership to achieve project goals and objectives..
- Providing guidance to design teams with technical specification of analog and digital design especially considering international standards, practices, acceptance and qualification.
- Providing guidance to technical design teams regarding evaluation, testing practices and methods and formal documentation and configuration.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team fostering skill development and collaboration.
- Technical Design
- Architect and design electronic hardware systems, including schematic design, component selection, and PCB layout.
- Organise and chair design reviews. User Requirement Specifications, Development Specifications and Interface Control Specifications.
- Leadership in generation and review of engineering test methodology regarding Acceptance and Qualification.
- Provides inputs to management regarding future hardware technology development requirements and needs. Assist in the generation of a technology horizon plan that includes resources and hardware development tools.
- Collaborate with software engineers, firmware engineers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware components into complete systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in electronic engineering and incorporate new technologies and methodologies into hardware designs.
- Prototype Development and Testing
- Oversee the creation of hardware prototypes and work closely with the team to troubleshoot and refine designs.
- Develop and implement testing procedures to validate the performance, reliability, and compliance of hardware designs with industry standards and specifications.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of hardware designs, including schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and design specifications.
- Ensure that hardware designs adhere to relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as EMC/EMI, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Investigate and resolve complex hardware-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, reliability concerns, and manufacturing challenges.
- Cost and Risk Management
- Manage project budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and assess and mitigate risks associated with hardware design.
- Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the highest level of product quality and reliability.
Profile / Requirements- Expertise: Graduate with 10-12 Years of Experience or Post-Grad with 8-10 Years of Experience in the hardware analog and digital hardware design engineering domain. With At least 5 years experience in the acceptance/qualification methodology of hardware.
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Electronic/Software Engineering degree
- Defence Industry Expertise: Knowledge of analog and digital system/subsystem design with application in the precision guided munition domain.
- Technical Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the systems engineering process (Requirements, analysis, design, integration, verification, certification and configuration management.) A deep understanding of electronic engineering principles and a proven track record in leading hardware design projects to success.
