Globe 24-7, in partnership with a well-capitalised and rapidly expanding mining investment group headquartered in Abu Dhabi, is supporting the appointment of a Principal Geophysicist Survey & Operations. The organisation is building a diversified mineral exploration portfolio and is investing in establishing robust in-house technical capabilities to support long-term growth.
The Role
The Principal Geophysicist Survey & Operations will take full ownership of establishing and leading the geophysical survey function. This is a build-and-scale mandate requiring the successful candidate to design, implement, and operationalise end-to-end geophysical capabilities across surface, airborne, and downhole exploration programs.
The role combines technical leadership, operational oversight, vendor ecosystem development, and team building. The successful candidate will define survey standards, oversee execution, and build a high-performing geophysics team aligned with exploration strategy.
The Responsibilities
- Establish and scale the geophysics survey function, including operating models, SOPs, QA/QC standards, and governance frameworks.
- Define and standardise survey methodologies across surface, airborne, and downhole geophysics aligned to greenfield and advanced-stage exploration.
- Lead planning and execution of geophysical campaigns including gravity, magnetics, IP, resistivity, EM, MT, radiometrics, seismic, and related techniques.
- Oversee airborne survey programs including fixed-wing, helicopter, and UAV/drone-based operations.
- Manage vendor frameworks, service providers, aircraft operators, downhole logging contractors, and field teams.
- Drive operational efficiency, cost control, and risk mitigation across survey programs.
- Ensure data acquisition integrity, processing quality, and interpretation standards are maintained.
- Build and mentor internal geophysics and field teams to support portfolio growth.
- Act as the primary technical interface for exploration leadership and key stakeholders.
The Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or related discipline.
- 10 - 15+ years experience in mineral exploration geophysics with strong exposure to field operations and survey management.
- Demonstrated experience building or scaling geophysical survey capabilities or practices.
- Proven experience managing surface, airborne, and downhole geophysical programs in remote environments.
- Strong understanding of geophysical processing, interpretation workflows, GIS, and digital field data systems.
- Experience working across international exploration programs and multicultural teams.
- Willingness to travel extensively to remote and frontier locations.
The Rewards
The role offers a competitive remuneration package and the opportunity to build and lead a strategic geophysics capability within a growing global exploration platform. The position is based in Abu Dhabi.
