Purpose Of The Role

  • The Lead Structural Designer is responsible for leading the offshore drafting team in the development, and delivery of detailing solutions that meet project, client, and regulatory requirements. The role provides technical leadership, supervision, and mentoring to draftin team Lead/Sr. Designer and drafts man ensuring that designs are safe, efficient, and compliant with industry codes and company standards. In addition to preparing and reviewing Principal Structural Designer coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, manages technical interfaces, and supports Lead Engineers in achieving successful outcomes. The position plays a key role in resource planning, resolving technical challenges, and driving continuous improvement in engineering practices, contributing to Worley's commitment to excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design team in delivering high-quality, code-compliant solutions.
  • Oversee the development of detailed drawings, 3D models, and design deliverables and ensuring alignment with project schedules, budget and technical requirements to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to meet project goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and promote best practices in design execution.
  • Able to assist and troubleshoot issues with systems, processes and tools, and its possible enhancements.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to engineers and designers.
  • Conduct site investigations, prepare reports
  • Ensure that work is checked effectively before issue.
  • Assist Lead in conducting regular quality audits.
  • Ensure that costs are effectively controlled on work assigned to design / drafting personnel within assigned team
  • Estimate cost, time and resource requirements for design / drafting work in cooperation with project engineers and Lead Discipline Engineer within asset.
  • Manage design documentation and drawings.
  • Evidence that documents are registered, controlled, tracked and filed effectively – in accordance with procedures, using standard systems.
  • Preparation of detail designs in conjunction with engineers
  • Work is carried out competently and effectively within time and budget constraints and project objectives are satisfied.
  • Liaison with other disciplines on technical issues.

Qualifications

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Drafting
  • Relevant years of experience in structural design, with experience in a lead role
  • Experience in Fixed/Floating Offshore structures design in greenfield and brownfield projects
  • Advanced proficiency in E3D, SP3D, BOCAD or TEKLA
  • Knowledge in driving 3D modelling review, tagging and closing out all tags
  • Knowledge in resolving all the clashes in 3D modelling, extraction drawings
  • Strong understanding of offshore structures, steel detailing, and fabrication methods.
  • Must have strong fabrication drawings preparations
  • Strong knowledge of structural codes and standards for effective detailing
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
