We are looking for a Principal Power Systems Engineer to join our growing engineering team and provide technical leadership across medium and high voltage (MV/HV) power systems design, analysis, and project delivery. What You'll Be Doing
As a Principal Power Systems Engineer, you'll act as a technical leader within our multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring the successful delivery of power systems solutions from concept through construction and commissioning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design and delivery of MV and HV power systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.
- Providing technical leadership and guidance across project teams.
- Developing power system strategies that deliver resilience, efficiency and long-term value for clients.
- Managing client relationships and acting as a trusted technical advisor.
- Supporting business growth through project development, bid support and identifying new opportunities.
- Preparing and reviewing technical specifications, reports, engineering calculations and design documentation.
- Leading power system studies and network analysis activities.
- Overseeing project budgets, schedules and technical quality.
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams to achieve project objectives.
- Supporting, mentoring and developing junior and intermediate engineers.
- Representing the business at client meetings, technical workshops and industry forums.
- Participating in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), inspections and commissioning activities when required.

Key Technical Expertise
You will bring experience in several of the following areas:
- MV and HV electrical network design.
- Power system studies and modelling using ETAP or equivalent software.
- Protection coordination and protection scheme design.
- Load flow, fault level, arc flash, harmonic and earthing studies.
- Grid connections and utility interface requirements.
- Standby and emergency generation systems using diesel, HVO, gas or alternative technologies.
- Critical power infrastructure and resilient control systems.
- Electrical equipment specification and technical evaluation.
- Design delivery across multiple project stages from concept to completion.
- Application of IEC, BS and other international electrical standards.
What We're Looking For
We are interested in speaking with engineers who have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in MV/HV power systems engineering and project delivery.
- Experience working within consultancy, engineering design or specialist power systems environments.
- Strong technical knowledge across power distribution and network analysis.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams, mentor engineers and coordinate multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience managing technical quality, project schedules and commercial performance.
- Chartered Engineer status, or a clear pathway toward professional registration, would be highly advantageous.
