Job Description

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and engaging Private Tutor & Mentor to support the academic, personal and extracurricular development of a young client within a private household in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will combine strong educational knowledge with a warm, positive and approachable personality. The role involves supporting academic progress, organising activities, encouraging independence and good manners, and acting as a trusted mentor and positive role model.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in Arabic and English, hold a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, and have previous experience working with children or young individuals in a private household, tutoring, education or a similar environment.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Support

  • Monitor and support the child's academic progress and development.
  • Assist with homework, school projects and daily academic requirements.
  • Liaise with teachers and relevant educational professionals when required.
  • Identify areas where additional academic support may be beneficial.
  • Provide regular updates to the family regarding academic progress.

Schedule & Activity Management

  • Organise and manage the weekly schedule, ensuring a good balance between education, activities, sports and leisure.
  • Coordinate extracurricular activities, sports, classes and other interests.
  • Arrange and coordinate activities and appointments as required.
  • Liaise with friends parents when appropriate to coordinate social activities.

Mentoring & Personal Development

  • Encourage independence, responsibility and good manners through a positive, intelligent and friendly approach.
  • Act as a trusted mentor and positive role model.
  • Encourage confidence, communication skills and positive social behaviour.
  • Support the development of healthy routines and constructive habits.
  • Create an engaging and supportive environment that encourages learning and personal growth.

Family Communication

  • Maintain regular communication with the mother regarding academic, social and personal development.
  • Provide clear and professional updates on activities, schedules and progress.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality regarding the family and the child's personal information.

Travel & Transportation

  • Travel with the child when required.
  • Support transportation to school, extracurricular activities, sports and social engagements.
  • Maintain a safe and responsible approach to transportation and travel arrangements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
  • Previous experience as a private tutor, teacher, governess, mentor, family assistant or similar role.
  • Experience working with children or young individuals.
  • Strong understanding of child development.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Live-out arrangement.
  • Flexible and willing to travel when required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, discreet and trustworthy.
  • Energetic, organised and proactive personality.
  • Ability to establish a positive and respectful relationship with the child and family.

Working Schedule

Full-time

School Days:

  • 7:15 AM – 8:15 AM
  • 2:30 PM – 7:30 PM
  • BJJ days: up to 8:30 PM, twice per week

Saturday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Sunday: Day off

The successful candidate must demonstrate flexibility to accommodate changes to the schedule based on the child's activities and family requirements.
