Job Title: Process Engineering Intern (Chemical Engineering) – Process Safety Consultancy

Job Purpose
The Process Engineering Intern will support the Process Safety Consultancy team in delivering technical studies and engineering analyses for oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, energy, and industrial projects. The intern will gain practical exposure to process safety engineering, risk assessment methodologies, consequence modeling, and regulatory compliance requirements while assisting senior consultants in project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Process Safety Consultants in conducting process safety studies and risk assessments.
- Support the preparation of:
- Hazard Identification (HAZID) Studies
- Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) Studies
- Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
- Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA)
- Fire Risk Assessment (FRA)
- Consequence Modeling Studies
- Explosion and Dispersion Modeling
- Flare Radiation and Vent Dispersion Analysis
- Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Assessment
- ALARP Demonstrations
- Assist in collecting, reviewing, and validating process design data, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment datasheets.
- Perform preliminary engineering calculations under supervision.
- Support process simulation and safety modeling activities using industry-standard software.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and study documentation.
- Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, ENVID, SIMOPS, and other safety workshops as a scribe or technical support member.
- Conduct literature reviews and research on process safety standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Support proposal preparation and technical bid submissions.
- Maintain project documentation and records in accordance with company quality procedures.
- Comply with company HSE, quality, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (Final Year Student or Recent Graduate).
- Strong academic understanding of:

- Thermodynamics

- Chemical Reaction Engineering
Preferred Skills
- Basic understanding of process safety principles and risk management.
- Familiarity with process engineering software such as:
- Aspen HYSYS
- Aspen Plus
- PHAST
- ALOHA
- Flaresim (advantageous)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good technical report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
