About the Role
The Process Improvement & Excellence Specialist is responsible for driving operational excellence across the organization by identifying inefficiencies, eliminating duplication of efforts, and optimizing cross-functional workflows. This role works closely with departments such as IT, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and HR to streamline processes, improve system utilization, and implement continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, and systems thinking.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with hands-on process improvement experience and the ability to influence stakeholders across departments.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Process Analysis & Optimization
- Map, analyze, and document end-to-end business processes across departments.
- Identify inefficiencies, redundancies, bottlenecks, and non-value-added activities.
- Develop and implement standardized processes to reduce duplication of efforts.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops to align workflows and eliminate silos.
Continuous Improvement Initiatives
- Lead improvement projects using Six Sigma (DMAIC), Kaizen, and Lean methodologies.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics to measure process effectiveness.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement across departments.
- Monitor post-implementation results to ensure sustainability of improvements.
Enterprise Process Engineering
- Conduct end-to-end process mapping using BPMN, SIPOC, and Value Stream Mapping techniques.
- Perform root cause analysis using DMAIC, Fishbone, 5 Whys, FMEA, and statistical tools.
- Identify redundancy, system overlaps, and manual intervention points.
- Redesign workflows to improve efficiency, scalability, and data integrity.
Systems & ERP Optimization
- Analyze ERP workflows (Finance, Procurement, Inventory, HR modules) to eliminate duplicate entries and disconnected processes.
- Collaborate with IT to configure, enhance, or automate workflows within ERP and enterprise platforms.
- Evaluate system integrations and APIs to ensure seamless data flow between platforms.
- Support RPA (Robotic Process Automation) initiatives for repetitive tasks.
Data-Driven Performance Management
- Develop operational dashboards and KPIs using BI tools.
- Perform statistical analysis to identify trends, variance, and improvement opportunities.
- Establish process control mechanisms (SPC, control charts).
- Drive measurable improvements in cycle time, cost, and quality
Cross-Functional Technical Collaboration
- Work with IT on system architecture alignment and workflow automation.
- Coordinate with Finance to optimize approval hierarchies, reporting structures, and reconciliation processes.
- Partner with Procurement to streamline sourcing, vendor onboarding, and contract lifecycle processes.
- Ensure process governance across interconnected systems to prevent duplication of data and effort.
Automation & Digital Transformation
- Identify automation opportunities using RPA, workflow engines, and low-code platforms.
- Lead process digitization initiatives.
- Participate in ERP implementation, upgrades, and module rollouts.
- Conduct gap analysis between current and future-state digital architecture.
Governance & Standardization
- Develop and maintain technical SOPs, process architecture documents, and control frameworks.
- Establish process ownership models and RACI matrices.
- Implement internal control checkpoints aligned with audit and compliance requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in process improvement, operational excellence, or business transformation roles.
- Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Kaizen, Lean principles, and systems thinking.
- Experience working cross-functionally with IT, Procurement, and Finance teams.
- Experience with ERP systems and workflow automation tools is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills.
