Procurement Engineer (Mechanical) - Water Treatment
Job Summary:
The Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing mechanical equipment, materials, and services required for water and wastewater treatment projects. The role ensures cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality, compliance, and timely delivery in line with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, piping, tanks, blowers, and filtration systems.
- Review technical specifications, drawings, and BOQs to identify procurement needs.
- Prepare and issue RFQs/RFPs to approved vendors and evaluate technical and commercial bids.
- Coordinate with engineering, project, and QA/QC teams to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and contract terms with suppliers.
- Source and develop new vendors, especially for specialized water treatment equipment.
- Ensure materials comply with international standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO, AWWA).
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery to project sites.
- Maintain procurement records, documentation, and vendor performance evaluations.
- Handle logistics coordination, including shipping, customs clearance, and delivery.
- Monitor market trends and pricing to optimize procurement strategies.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and Qatar regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 610 years of experience in procurement within water treatment, MEP, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical components used in water treatment plants.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is preferred.
- Understanding of international standards and specifications.

Preferred Experience:
- Experience in desalination, sewage treatment plants (STP), or reverse osmosis (RO) systems
- GCC/Qatar project experience is an advantage
- Knowledge of local supplier market in Qatar
