Job Title: Procurement & Estimation Engineer

Job Overview:
The Procurement & Estimation Engineer is integral to our building contracting company, specializing in accurately forecasting project costs, particularly for residential projects like villas. This role involves managing procurement activities, sourcing building materials, and ensuring effective contract management. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining financial efficiency, mitigating risks, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimation:
- Conduct detailed analysis to create precise cost estimates for construction projects, with a focus on the materials needed for building villas.
- Develop and present comprehensive estimation reports to management, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Assist in feasibility studies to ensure that projects, including villa constructions, are financially viable and profitable.
Resource Allocation & Budgeting:
- Collaborate with project managers to identify resource needs for upcoming projects and allocate materials and labor efficiently.
- Prepare detailed project budgets, tracking costs associated with building materials and ensuring projects stay within financial targets.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks related to material costs, timelines, and resource allocation, and develop proactive strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Review project timelines to ensure they align with budgetary constraints and resource availability.
Supplier & Subcontractor Management:
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for building materials, securing favorable pricing, schedules, and terms.
- Prepare and manage subcontract agreements to ensure clarity and compliance with project specifications.
Purchasing:
- Oversee the procurement of all materials and services necessary for construction projects, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Cultivate relationships with key suppliers to secure competitive pricing and ensure timely delivery of building materials.
- Manage purchase orders meticulously, ensuring compliance with company policies and project requirements.
Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring they are legally sound and aligned with project goals.
- Monitor contract performance and address any contractual issues or disputes that arise throughout the project lifecycle.
Quantity Surveying:
- Conduct quantity surveying tasks, including measuring and valuing work done on-site, to ensure accuracy in project costing and material usage.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry, with specific expertise in procurement, cost estimation, and quantity surveying for residential projects.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential issues effectively.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a resourceful and dependable approach to managing procurement processes.
- Proficient in MS Excel and other MS Office applications, capable of creating detailed cost analyses and estimation reports.
- Solid understanding of accounting and financial principles as they pertain to construction projects.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, design software, and other relevant engineering tools.
- Excellent negotiation skills and a comprehensive understanding of contract law and procurement best practices.
