The Procurement Expeditor cum Material Engineer is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of materials, expediting, inspection, and delivery of construction materials in accordance with approved Purchase order, specifications, project schedules, and quality standards. The role supports uninterrupted construction activities by coordinating with suppliers and site teams while ensuring full technical and material compliance. The material deliveries will include materials procured locally and internationally. He will coordinate with the Project team and Planning team to ensure timely deliveries.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Expediting

  • Coordinate with procurement and vendors for timely execution of purchase orders for construction materials.
  • Expedite material deliveries in line with project schedules and construction priorities.
  • Monitor supplier manufacturing, fabrication, and delivery status for structural, civil, MEP, and finishing materials.
  • Identify potential delays and implement mitigation plans in coordination with project and site teams.
  • Maintain material expediting reports, procurement trackers, and delivery schedules.
  • Coordinate logistics, transportation, unloading, and site delivery with suppliers and logistics teams.

Material Engineering & Technical Compliance

  • Ensure materials are inspected by the supervision team and comply with approved purchase order and relevant construction standards.
  • If required in the purchase order, Ensure materials are delivered along with material test certificates, inspection reports, and third-party test results.
  • Coordinate material inspections at supplier works and site (MIR, WIR, FAT where applicable).

Site Coordination & Quality Control

  • Liaise with vendors to ensure material delivery and compliance. Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare and maintain material registers with PO number description and delivery dates with quantities delivered.
  • Generate periodic procurement and material status reports for Procurement management and project teams.
  • Ensure adherence to project contractual requirements, HSE standards, and local regulations.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 510 years of experience in construction projects, preferably in buildings, infrastructure, or EPC construction. Hands-on experience in procurement expediting and material engineering for construction materials.

Key Skills & Competencies -

  • Strong knowledge of construction materials (concrete, steel, reinforcement, finishing, MEP materials, etc.).
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
  • Experience working with consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Strong coordination, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems (SAP and or Xpedeon) and construction management software.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced site environments and manage multiple priorities.
