About the Role Procurement Expeditor / Material Engineer (MEP)

The Procurement Expeditor / Material Engineer (MEP) is responsible for ensuring that approved MEP materials and systems are procured, tracked, and delivered in line with project schedules and technical requirements. The role acts as a critical interface between procurement, consultants, suppliers, logistics teams, and site execution, enabling uninterrupted MEP works on site.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Expediting & Vendor Coordination

  • Expedite purchase orders for MEP materials and systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, ELV, and BMS
  • Follow up with suppliers on manufacturing status, inspections, dispatch, and delivery timelines
  • Coordinate with procurement teams on PO issuance, amendments, and delivery priorities
  • Track material movement and proactively resolve delivery delays or supply chain issues

Material Engineering & Technical Compliance

  • Review and manage MEP material submittals, technical datasheets, shop drawings, and compliance documents
  • Ensure materials meet approved specifications, authority standards, and consultant requirements
  • Coordinate with consultants and authorities for material approvals, inspections, FATs, and mock-ups
  • Manage samples, test reports, certifications, warranties, and O&M documentation

Site & Project Coordination

  • Liaise with MEP site engineers, planning teams, and project managers to align deliveries with construction and installation schedules
  • Support site teams during material inspections, approvals, and handovers
  • Provide technical support for material alternatives, substitutions, and value engineering proposals

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive records of material approvals, delivery logs, submittals, and expediting status
  • Prepare weekly and monthly MEP material tracking and expediting reports
  • Ensure compliance with company quality, procurement, HSE, and audit standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related MEP discipline
  • 510 years of experience in MEP material engineering, procurement expediting, or project coordination
  • Strong exposure to HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, fire fighting, and ELV materials
  • Experience working with developers, main contractors, or MEP subcontractors
  • UAE / GCC project experience is highly preferred

Required Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth understanding of MEP materials, specifications, and authority approval processes
  • Strong coordination, follow-up, and vendor management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications
  • Experience with ERP, procurement, and document control systems (SAP, Oracle, Aconex, Procore, BIM 360, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of handling fast-track, multi-project environments
