About The Role
We are seeking a Product Development Agronomist Consultant with deep experience in crop systems, field validation, and ag-input product development to support the development of a novel hydrogel-based agricultural input designed to improve water efficiency and crop performance in water-scarce environments. This role will play a critical part in translating a promising lab-developed hydrogel into a launch-ready product for real farming systems. You will help define the agronomic product brief, shape the beachhead use case, translate end-user requirements into field protocols and product specifications, and ensure that our pilot work generates the evidence needed for commercialization. You will sit at the intersection of technical development, field trials, and productization, helping ensure that what is validated scientifically is also practical, relevant, and valuable in the field.
This is a 12-month contract position.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate priority use cases into agronomic product requirements, including crop system, dose logic, application protocol, and success criteria
- Design and manage greenhouse, mini-outdoor, and field validation plans to ensure product performance is tested in conditions relevant to launch
- Define agronomic KPIs and field performance metrics, including crop response, irrigation behavior, fertilizer efficiency, and operational practicality
- Work with technical team to translate formulation options into crop- and system relevant field hypotheses
- Support definition of the launch product architecture, including what should be tailored through chemistry vs. dose / SOP / application method
- Own product-agronomy inputs into the PRD, CQAs, and proof / validation matrix
- Assess agronomic implications of soil type, greenhouse vs. open field, planting density, irrigation / fertigation setup, and growing system
- Ensure field protocols are aligned to the evidence required for customer claims, regulatory discussions, and commercialization decisions
- Support identification and execution of end-user design-partner trials alongside the ADAFSA PoC
- Synthesize field results into clear product recommendations for VentureOne, TII, and manufacturing / industrialization stakeholders
- Help define application training materials and first-use guidance for launch customers and partners.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, Horticulture, Agriculture, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in agronomy, crop-input product development, field science, or agricultural R&D, ideally in UAE / MENA
- Proven experience designing and running field trials for ag-inputs such as fertilizers, soil amendments, biostimulants, water-efficiency products, or related inputs
- Strong understanding of crop-system variability, including protected cultivation, open-field systems, and soil-based agronomy
- Experience translating technical product features into field protocols and real-world adoption requirements
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret field data into practical product recommendations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in arid agriculture, desert farming, or water-scarce crop systems
- Familiarity with hydrogel, polymer-based inputs, soil conditioners, or controlled release / nutrient-delivery systems
- Experience supporting product development in early-stage / 01 agri-input ventures
- Knowledge of UAE / GCC farming conditions and crop systems
- Experience engaging with government or institutional agricultural programs
- Arabic language capability is a plus
