Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled
Product Development Engineer, graduate in
Chemical Engineering, with expertise in chemical formulations across a wide range of consumer products.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing formulations while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Scope of Expertise
- Cosmetics makeup, creams, lotions, perfumes, and essential oils
- Personal Hygiene Products soaps, shampoos, deodorants, and toothpaste
- Cleaning Products laundry detergents and household cleaning solutions
- This role requires strong knowledge in chemistry, product stability, sensory evaluation, and innovation to create high-quality consumer products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and optimize formulations for cosmetics, personal hygiene, and cleaning products
- Analyze chemical composition and ingredient interactions to ensure product efficacy, stability, and safety
- Collaborate with marketing, quality assurance, and production teams to align product specifications with market trends and regulatory requirements
- Conduct pilot trials, evaluate prototypes, and refine formulations based on sensory, stability, and performance testing
- Maintain updated knowledge of industry trends, new ingredients, technologies, and regulatory changes
- Troubleshoot formulation issues and ensure consistent product quality during production scale-up
- Prepare technical documentation including formulation sheets, stability reports, and regulatory dossiers
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Food and Drug Authority, Food and Drug Administration, and European Commission cosmetic regulations
- Support cost optimization and sustainable product development initiatives
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering (Masters degree preferred)
- Proven experience in formulating cosmetics, personal hygiene, and cleaning products
- Strong knowledge of surfactants, emulsifiers, preservatives, fragrance chemistry, and active ingredients
- Familiarity with stability testing, quality control, and sensory evaluation
- Understanding of GMP, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret analytical data and product performance metrics
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good project management and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
