About The Role
The Product Development Specialist is an enthusiastic and creative subject matter expert responsible for leading content and product development initiatives. You will be part of a team committed to creating great learning experiences and driving the success of our K12 supplemental portfolio. This role provides an opportunity for a literacy specialist to fully engage with and influence the reading comprehension product and ensure that it meets the expectations and needs of supplemental learning for the audience we intend to serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Product Development Manager and wider Product team to plan and deliver engaging and effective learning experiences.
- Contribute to the creation of the new product roadmap, including identifying ideas for product improvements in conjunction with the product management team.
- Promote a deep understanding of subject and learning needs to identify and promote opportunities for Alef to deliver content that is effective for learning particularly to support English development for speakers of other languages.
- Support the development of product concepts for approval – including scoping, costing, market testing, and sample design creation.
- Responsible for maintaining and coaching standardized processes and quality standards for subject-specific content aligned with the new product direction.
- Brief resources clearly and in line with the approved concept, and work with and support resource teams for the duration of the development period to ensure that the project develops to brief and on time.
- Work thoroughly and with detail on development components to ensure suitability, originality, and alignment of all content for learning & assessment deliverables.
- Manage review process with SMEs and stakeholders to provide feedback and directional input for development, communicating constructive criticism sensitively and confidently to content creators and reviewers.
- Own and manage multiple projects simultaneously to tight deadlines.
- Brief and manage freelance development inputs where necessary and oversee work to ensure quality control.
- Champion the product with sales, marketing, implementation, and training to build internal knowledge
To Be The Right Fit, You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area or Education is required.
- Teaching certificate (or similar based on regulations in countries of employee work history) or Education degree is required. Certifications such as DELTA, TESOL are desired.
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching with curriculum development experience is required gained in Elementary & Middle School (English subject).
- Minimum 2 years experience gained in K-12 digital content or product development experience is required.
- Knowledge of evidence-based teaching and learning.
- Relevant subject-specific knowledge.
- Content writing, editing and quality assurance.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Fluency in English.
