Job Description
We are seeking a Product Engineer to design, build, and ship digital platforms for public sector systems. In this role, you will bridge full-stack software development, user experience craft, and pragmatic product delivery.
As a Product Engineer, you will own features across their full lifecycle—from understanding frontline operational needs and defining technical implementation details, to writing resilient production code and monitoring service health post-launch. You will work across multidisciplinary teams to modernize public services, ensuring high reliability, strict data security, and seamless user experiences.
What We Are Looking For
Core Experience
3 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience delivering web applications or modern microservice-based platforms.
Full-Stack Proficiency: Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks, such as React, Next.js, or Vue with TypeScript, alongside backend languages or runtimes such as Node.js, Go, Python, or Java.
API Design & Integration: Practical experience building and consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs, working with API gateways, and handling service-to-service communication.
Data Persistence: Solid working knowledge of relational databases, such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, and caching layers such as Redis.
Preferred Background
Product Company Experience: Experience working in product-led tech companies, such as FAANG, growth-stage SaaS, or modern tech platforms, where user-centric design, rapid iteration, product telemetry, and continuous delivery are lived realities.
Public Sector or Regulated Exposure: Prior exposure to public sector projects, healthcare, fintech, or regulated domains with strict security and compliance standards.
Technical Fluency
Product-Minded Execution: Strong focus on user impact and operational value, balancing speed-to-value with long-term code quality and maintainability.
Cloud & DevSecOps Basics: Familiarity with containerized workflows, including Docker and Kubernetes basics, CI/CD build tools, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or private cloud environments.
Observability & Debugging: Experience using error tracking and telemetry platforms, such as Sentry, OpenTelemetry, or Datadog, to isolate bottlenecks and ensure platform stability.
Practical AI Literacy: Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools to increase delivery velocity and familiarity with integrating third-party AI APIs into application workflows.
Personal Qualities
Empathy for End-Users: Driven by a desire to build software that simplifies life for civil servants, operational staff, and the public.
Pragmatic Problem Solver: Able to navigate ambiguity, make sensible technical trade-offs, and maintain momentum.
Collaborative Communicator: Effective at translating technical constraints to non-technical stakeholders and partnering across disciplines.
