We are currently seeking an experienced Country Product Head – Ocean Freight to lead our national ocean product portfolio under a confidential hiring initiative.
This key executive position carries full strategic and financial accountability for our national Ocean Freight business unit. The incoming leader will spearhead product positioning, carrier procurement strategies, and commercial growth while driving operational excellence across all import and export trade lanes. The ideal candidate will combine deep trade lane economics expertise with strong commercial acumen to maximize unit profitability and expand our overall market share.
Core Responsibilities
- P&L & Financial Strategy: Drive complete P&L performance for the national Ocean Freight division, focusing on revenue expansion, yield optimization, and strict margin management.
- Product Leadership: Define and implement the country-level product strategy, aligning national market capabilities with overall global and regional growth targets.
- Carrier Procurement & Alliances: Lead executive-level negotiations with major ocean carriers and service partners to secure competitive rate structures, allocation commitments, and strategic agreements.
- Commercial Support & Tenders: Partner with executive sales teams on strategic client acquisitions, complex global/regional RFQs, and major account retention.
- Operational Integrity & Governance: Maintain oversight of product delivery standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and seamless end-to-end execution across all trade corridors.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor global shipping economics, capacity movements, and regulatory changes to capitalize on emerging trade trends.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership within the ocean freight forwarding industry, with direct experience managing procurement, product pricing, or trade lane development.
- Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive grasp of global maritime shipping markets, carrier alliance structures, contract negotiations, and international trade regulations.
- Leadership & Acumen: Demonstrated success managing unit P&Ls, negotiating high-value commercial agreements, and navigating complex supply chain disruptions.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field; Advanced degree (MBA) is an advantage.
- Languages: Business fluency in English is required; additional languages are beneficial.
