Job Overview: The Ice Cream Production Manager will be responsible for managing the entire production process of ice cream and frozen desserts, ensuring the product meets quality standards, production schedules, and safety regulations. The manager will lead a team, handle inventory management, and optimize operational efficiency within the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Oversight: Plan and oversee the production of ice cream, frozen desserts, and related products. Ensure production runs smoothly, on time, and within budget. Monitor the manufacturing process, adjusting parameters as necessary to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Team Management: Supervise and manage a team of production workers, including hiring, training, and scheduling. Foster a positive, safety-oriented work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all products meet the company's standards for taste, texture, appearance, and safety. Monitor the quality of raw ingredients and finished products. Conduct regular inspections and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Management: Oversee the ordering, storage, and use of raw ingredients and packaging materials. Maintain inventory levels to ensure consistent production. Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the timely arrival of ingredients.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure that the production facility follows all applicable health and safety regulations, including sanitation protocols. Maintain clean and safe work environments, implementing hygiene practices. Ensure that all machinery and equipment are maintained and regularly inspected.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze production data to identify opportunities for process optimization. Develop and implement strategies to increase productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D and marketing teams to develop new flavors, formulations, or packaging. Coordinate with distribution and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, Business Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in food production or manufacturing, with at least 1-2 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and FDA guidelines.
  • Experience in managing a team, including scheduling, training, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage inventory and understand production forecasting.
  • Familiarity with food production equipment and technology.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in ice cream or dairy product manufacturing.
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
  • Knowledge of quality control testing, product development, and food labeling.

Work Environment: The role is based in a production facility, requiring the manager to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work in temperatures consistent with cold storage and ice cream production. Occasional weekend or overtime work may be required to meet production deadlines.
