We are looking for a talented and skilled Production Planner - Rolling Mill/Steel Making Plant to join our multicultural and diverse team in Kuwait. You will be responsible to pptimize and evaluate production planning processes to ensure efficient SMP, Rolling Mills and Lime Plant Plan and scheduling are accurate, timely and aligned with Plant requirements. Forecast resource needs, coordinate with departments, and enforce compliance with planning standards to support smooth plant operations. Prepare and release timely department related Plan and report. Monitor daily, monthly and yearly production vs plan. Prepare raw material requirements and maintain inventory level .
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Optimize production planning systems, parameters, and sequencing logic to improve schedule accuracy, resource utilization, and throughput efficiency.
- Analyze production constraints, bottlenecks, and capacity limitations, and recommend planning adjustments to minimize disruptions and idle time.
- Evaluate plant capacity, raw material availability, maintenance plans, and customer order requirements to ensure feasibility of production plans.
- Forecast manpower, material, and equipment requirements to support medium- and long-term production plans and ensure readiness of resources.
- Perform scenario analysis to assess the impact of demand changes, supply constraints, or operational issues on production schedules.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Logistics, Procurement, Sales, and Maintenance teams to align production schedules with operational priorities and delivery commitments.
- Translate demand forecasts and customer requirements into executable weekly and monthly production plans.
- Resolve planning conflicts related to capacity, material shortages, or delivery timelines through cross[1]functional coordination and escalation where required.
- Support alignment between planning assumptions and actual shop-floor execution by monitoring adherence and adjusting plans accordingly.
- Enforce adherence to approved planning standards, scheduling methodologies, reporting formats, and data accuracy requirements across the planning team. - Audit planning reports, KPIs, capacity models, and master data to validate reliability, completeness, and consistency.
- Identify data gaps, deviations, or systemic issues and coordinate corrective actions with relevant departments.
- Ensure planning activities comply with IMS documentation, internal controls, and approved procedures.
- Perform SAP and ERP planning transactions accurately and in a timely manner to maintain current and reliable planning records.
- Maintain production planning master data, routings, and capacity parameters in ERP/CMMS systems in coordination with system owners.
- Generate and analyze planning reports, schedule adherence metrics, and capacity utilization dashboards to support management decision-making.
- Provide structured planning inputs and analysis to support forecasting, budgeting, and operational reviews.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
REQUIRED:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Metallurgy or Production Engineering.
PREFERED:
- Bachelors: 7 years combined experience in production planning, operations planning, or manufacturing coordination in heavy industry. Minimum 4 years must be directly in production planning within steelmaking, rolling mills, or continuous process plants.
- Diploma: 9 years combined experience in production planning, operations planning, or manufacturing coordination. Minimum 6 years must be directly in production planning within steelmaking, rolling mills, or heavy industrial environments.
- Experience in steel plants, Rolling Mill, or other heavy process industries.
- Prior experience in ERP/CMMS or production planning systems preferred.
- Exposure to KPI tracking, energy monitoring, testing instruments, and automation systems.
JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS:
- Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, capacity planning, constraints management and resource allocation.
- Ability to lead small teams and authorize planning tasks.
- Competence in auditing reports and diagnosing planning variances.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams (Production, Logistics, Procurement, Sales).
- Skilled in ERP systems, MS Excel, and planning software.
- Strong communication, organizational, reporting skills, stress management, Problem solving, initiative and decision making.
