The College of Education at Qatar University was established in 1973 it is the first higher education institution in Qatar, and the only institution responsible for teachers and educators preparation to this day. The College of Education continues to adhere to its educational principles and its insightful vision that aim at graduating individuals who contribute to the country's development, progress and prosperity.Through the academic, research, training and consultant distinctive programs it offers, the College of Education seeks to prepare educational leaders with the knowledge, skills and positive attitudes that enable them to be innovative and responsive to the needs of the Qatari community. The College of Education obtained the academic recognition for its programs through the International Foundation for the Accreditation of Teacher Programs (IRTE), which approved the college's programs over the years 2010 - 2012. After that, the college obtained the academic accreditation from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Programs (NCATE) in 2016 to 2023.
Job Summary
The Professional Development Specialist in English Language must have advanced academic and educational expertise in teaching English, instructional methodologies, curriculum development, and assessment. The specialist contributes to designing and implementing high-quality training programs aimed at developing the performance of English language teachers across all educational levels. The role includes providing professional consultation, building specialized learning communities, and promoting modern teaching strategies that enhance student learning and improve language and communication skills.
1.Conduct needs assessment for professional development of English teachers.
2.Prepare and implement development plans and programs in English language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking).
3.Design training programs promoting modern teaching strategies, active learning, and alternative assessment.
4.Provide professional guidance to English teachers to support growth and improve instructional practices.
5.Monitor and evaluate training program effectiveness and provide evidence-based feedback.
6.Build and support professional learning communities in English language education.
7.Participate in educational conferences and forums at Qatar University and elsewhere.
8.Prepare periodic reports on training programs and initiatives.
9.Collect and analyze data related to professional development activities.
10.Participate in committees and professional teams related to English language education.
11.Follow the latest research in English language teaching and apply it in the field.
12.Contribute to educational research related to English language development.
13.Perform additional duties as assigned in alignment with university goals.
