Endowed Chair in Sustainability(Business & Tourism)

The Endowed Chair in Sustainability (Business& Tourism) is a senior academic and strategic leadership role responsiblefor advancing research excellence, policy development, and appliedsustainability practices in support of Qatar Tourism and the national tourismecosystem. The role integrates academic leadership, industry engagement, andpolicy advisory functions, positioning Qatar University as a center ofexcellence for sustainable tourism and business innovation. The Endowed Chairwill lead sustainability strategy design and implementation, supervise appliedresearch, contribute to teaching and capacity-building initiatives, andrepresent Qatar University and Qatar Tourism in national and internationalsustainability platforms.


Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide Strategic Leadershipand Policy Advisory by leading the development and implementation of comprehensive sustainability strategies aligned with Qatar Tourism's objectives and national priorities designing governance frame works, policies, and standards and embedding sustainability principles across organizational operations and sector-wide practices.
  • Drive Development and Sector Transformation through designing sustainability frameworks, implementing, and minoring sustainability roadmaps and ensure alignment with regional and international sustainability benchmarks to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead Research and Academic Excellence by supervising postgraduate and doctoral research in sustainability and tourism-related fields producing high-quality academic and applied research securing competitive research funding and fostering national and international research collaborations.
  • Advance Teaching and Capacity Building by contributing to teaching and executive education developing and delivering sustainability training programs for industry and public-sector stakeholders and producing practical toolkits, guidelines, and educational resources to support effective implementation.
  • Establish Monitoring, Reporting, and PerformanceFrameworks by designing KPIs, monitoring systems, and reporting mechanisms overseeing sustainability performance assessment and data analysis and leading the preparation of annual sustainability and sector performance reports.
  • Strengthen Stakeholder Engagement and Representationby leading consultations with government, industry, academia, and civil society representing the institution in national, regional, and international sustainability forums and building strategic partnerships with global institutions and accreditation bodies.
