Project Control Engineer

Role Overview

Al Masaood Power Division is seeking an experienced Project Controls Engineer to support the commercial control of major projects across the UAE and wider GCC region.

The role is cost and commercially focused. The successful candidate will support project progress visibility, cost-to-complete reporting, milestone tracking, invoice readiness, variation / claim support, cash-flow forecasting and project commercial reporting.

The candidate should be able to read and understand project programmes, including P6 / MS Project schedules, but will not be expected to own or develop the detailed project programme. The purpose of the role is to convert progress, cost and schedule movement into clear commercial reporting and early risk escalation.

Key Responsibilities include

• Review project programmes and progress updates to identify commercial impact.
• Track project progress against payment milestones, invoice readiness and contractual entitlement.
• Support cost-to-complete reviews, cost forecasting and margin movement reporting.
• Maintain project cost reports, commercial dashboards, milestone trackers, payment trackers, variation registers and risk registers.
• Support payment applications by tracking MIRs, delivery status, acceptance status and required supporting evidence.
• Identify delays, progress issues, cost movement and commercial risks early.
• Support variation and claim substantiation through records, manpower data, delay impact, correspondence and supporting evidence.
• Coordinate with Projects, Commercial, Procurement, Finance and site teams to obtain accurate project information.
• Support cash-flow forecasting by linking project progress to expected billing and collection milestones.
• Provide regular project commercial reports for management review.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, industry regulations, and contractual obligations and contribute to continuous improvement of project control processes within the business.
• Maintain proper filing systems (physical and digital) for audit readiness.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying or engineering (minimum 3 years experience) or a similar related field or a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar PCE role in the past 10 years.
• Experience in power generation EPC & maintenance projects, or data center projects is advantageous.
• UAE/GCC based candidates with English language proficiency.

Personal Skills & Key Competencies

• Highly organized, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to travel to project sites when required.
• Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel – VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.), Power BI and experience with other reporting/dashboard tools and ERP (SAP) systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and people management skills across all levels of the organization, including clients and senior management.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team, self-motivated, and eager to learn and adapt.
