We're hiring a Project Cost Controller to join our Project Controls team on a high-profile, technically complex Oil & Gas project in Dubai. Reporting to the Project Control Lead, you'll take ownership of day-to-day cost control across the project budget—tracking actuals vs. commitments, identifying risk early, and keeping forecasts accurate as scope and progress evolve.
This role suits someone commercially sharp, proactive with stakeholders, and confident working from SAP extracts and structured cost breakdowns.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor project expenses and proactively flag risks/overruns before they occur
- Administer budget variance tracking and analyse cost variances by package
- Track budget performance against work progress and identify emerging deviation trends
- Engage package leads and gather contractor/vendor reports and MoM to identify potential scope changes
- Assess cost impact of changes and maintain change records aligned to the cost breakdown structure
- Ensure forecasts are updated in line with scope changes, change orders, and project events
- Review WBS cost performance against budget
- Provide input to project cost follow-up sheets using SAP reports
- Update daily cost follow-up sheets with actual and committed costs from SAP extracts
- Support month-end cost reporting (Project Cost Report)
- Support the Monthly Project Status Report with the Project Control Lead prior to submission to the Project Manager
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or strong equivalent experience in Oil & Gas project cost control)
- Minimum 5 years experience in cost control / financial control
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with solid budgeting and accounting fundamentals
- Confident communicator with the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders
- Proficiency in SAP and Excel (Power BI is a plus)
- Working knowledge of project planning tools (MS Project) is an advantage
- Fluent English required
