Project Director – Water Treatment / Desalination – Saudi Arabia

I am working on behalf of a leading organisation delivering some of the Middle East's most high-profile water infrastructure programmes, and we are looking to engage an experienced Project Director with a proven track record across large-scale water treatment and desalination projects in Saudi Arabia.

This is a senior leadership opportunity to take ownership of major programmes that sit at the heart of the Kingdom's long-term water security and infrastructure strategy.

The Opportunity

You will be responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of complex water and wastewater treatment projects, from early engineering through to commissioning and handover. These are multi-billion SAR programmes with significant strategic importance, requiring strong leadership across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder environments.

You will play a critical role in driving programme performance, managing risk, and ensuring delivery against cost, schedule and quality expectations within a highly regulated and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale water treatment / desalination projects
• Manage EPC / EPCM contractors and oversee full project execution strategy
• Drive programme governance, reporting, and performance management
• Ensure compliance with Saudi regulations, standards, and client requirements
• Lead and develop high-performing project teams across engineering, construction, and project controls
• Manage senior stakeholder relationships across client, contractor, and government entities
• Oversee commissioning, testing, and handover phases

What We Are Looking For

• Proven experience as Project Director or Senior Project Manager on major water treatment / desalination projects in Saudi Arabia
• Strong background delivering RO plants, wastewater treatment facilities, or large-scale utilities infrastructure
• Experience working with leading developers / operators such as ACWA Power, Marafiq, SWCC, or similar
• Demonstrated success managing large EPC or EPCM contracts
• Strong commercial, contractual, and project controls understanding
• Ability to lead complex stakeholder environments and deliver under pressure
