Job Purpose
The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, execution, and technical follow-up of projects related to laboratory equipment, laboratory furniture, utility systems, and associated infrastructure. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with client specifications and company standards.
The Project Engineer acts as the technical bridge between engineering, procurement, site teams, OEMs, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination
- Support the Project Manager in overall project execution.
- Coordinate between engineering, procurement, logistics, and site teams.
- Track project schedules and highlight risks or delays.
- Follow up on material delivery status and site readiness.
Technical Review
- Review technical submittals, drawings, and datasheets.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications and project requirements.
- Support preparation and submission of method statements and technical documents.
- Assist in resolving technical queries (TQs/RFIs) from site or client.
Site Support
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning.
- Coordinate with site teams and subcontractors.
- Participate in site inspections when required.
- Support SAT/FAT activities and project handover.
Client & OEM Coordination
- Interface with clients, consultants, and OEM suppliers.
- Arrange OEM engineer visits and follow up on deliverables.
- Support progress meetings and technical discussions.
- Ensure timely closure of client comments.
Planning & Progress Monitoring
- Update project trackers and progress reports.
- Monitor key milestones against the baseline schedule.
- Support preparation of look-ahead plans.
- Identify bottlenecks and propose mitigation actions.
Quality & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Support preparation of:
- MIR/WIR submissions
- As-built documentation
- O&M manuals
- Handover dossiers
- Track NCRs and support timely closure.
Commercial Awareness
- Support verification of quantities and variations.
- Assist in tracking project costs vs. budget.
- Support milestone documentation for invoicing.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Timely submission approvals
- Engineering deliverables on schedule
- NCR closure time
- Support to on-time project delivery
- Client technical satisfaction
- Documentation completeness at handover
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related).
- PMP or equivalent certification is an advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 48 years of relevant project engineering experience.
- Experience in Saudi Arabia preferred.
- Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Laboratory projects
- Industrial/EPC projects
- Oil & Gas environment
- Exposure to lab furniture, GDS, or analytical equipment is a strong plus.
