Job Description
Role Purpose
The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing and monitoring activities on assigned projects to ensure the timely completion of site works. The role will work closely with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure project activities are delivered in line with the agreed programme, quality standards, safety requirements and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Projects Director and Senior Projects Manager in developing and monitoring project schedules.
- Act as the main site focal point between MAKANI, contractors, consultants and the Development team.
- Monitor project progress against the approved baseline programme and identify potential delays.
- Coordinate with contractors on site logistics, including access, security, signage, welfare facilities and movement around the site.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor manpower, productivity and performance.
- Follow up on material purchases, technical submittals, approvals, inspections, deliveries and project clarifications.
- Attend regular site meetings and escalate progress, quality, logistics or engineering issues when required.
- Ensure site activities are carried out in accordance with approved method statements, quality requirements and safety standards.
- Supervise and monitor day-to-day site activities and provide technical support where required.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Liaise with relevant local authorities to ensure compliance with construction regulations and approvals.
- Support value engineering activities when required.
- Maintain regular coordination with contractors, subcontractors, consultants and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant project management / construction experience.
- Strong experience in site execution and contractor/consultant coordination.
- Familiarity with government and local authority approval processes.
- Experience developing and monitoring detailed project timelines.
- Strong follow-up, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively with different levels of management and cross-functional teams.
