Role Description
We are hiring an Operations Engineer to support on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and day-to-day operational activities related to smart metering projects.
This is a field-based role that requires regular presence on project sites and close coordination with project managers, technicians, contractors, and client teams. The Operations Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that site activities are executed safely, efficiently, and according to plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute on-site installation and commissioning of smart meters and communication devices.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of metering systems.
- Monitor daily site activities and report progress to the Project Manager.
- Ensure compliance with safety rules, site procedures, and HSE requirements.
- Identify operational issues and support corrective actions.
- Coordinate daily with technicians, contractors, and internal teams.
- Prepare basic site reports, logs, and operational documentation.
- Support clients and site staff with basic technical guidance when required.
Job RequirementsEducation & Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Communications, or similar) mandatory
- Basic knowledge of metering systems and communication devices
- Basic understanding of safety rules and site procedures (HSE)
- Safety certifications (OSHA / NEBOSH) preferred
- ERP / MDM systems user level
Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in a site-based engineering role
- Hands-on experience in:
- Installation and commissioning
- Maintenance and troubleshooting
- Experience in utilities, metering, or infrastructure projects preferred
- Ability to work on site with limited supervision
Skills
- English: good working level (emails, reports, coordination)
- Arabic: fluent (site communication)
- Good computer skills (MS Excel, Word, basic reporting)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively with technicians, contractors, and project managers
- Organized and able to follow instructions and procedures
