Job Description

Job Purpose:

Oversee planning, execution, and successful delivery of fiber optic network projects within the telecommunications sector. Manage fiber network deployments, expansions, and upgrades, ensuring that project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This includes coordinating teams, managing stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with all industry regulations and safety standards.

Main job duties and responsibilities:

  1. Develop detailed project plans, including projects scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and deliverables for fiber optic installations, expansions, or upgrades.
  2. Oversee project scheduling, ensuring timely delivery of each phase, coordinating with internal and external teams, and adjusting plans as necessary.
  3. Manage subcontractors, ensuring they meet the technical, quality, and safety standards required by the organization and the telecommunications industry.
  4. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring regular communication on project progress, milestones, risks, and changes.
  5. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering teams, operations, management) and external parties (vendors, subcontractors, regulatory bodies) to ensure seamless project execution.
  6. Ensure the project aligns with the client's specifications and expectations, addressing any concerns or scope changes promptly.
  7. Develop and manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure projects remain within financial constraints. Approve expenditures and monitor contractor invoices.
  8. Oversee the allocation of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to ensure project are completed efficiently and cost-effectively.
  9. Ensure all projects adhere to local, state, and federal telecommunications regulations and industry standards for fiber optic network installation.
  10. Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, and industry regulations, and that appropriate risk assessments are completed.
  11. Identify potential risks or challenges that may impact project timelines, budgets, or performance. Implement proactive solutions to address and mitigate risks.
  12. Address any technical, logistical, or contractual issues that arise during the project, working with the relevant teams to find resolutions.
  13. Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, including timeline, budget, and any challenges or delays.
  14. Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, invoices, safety reports, and change orders for auditing and compliance purposes.
  15. Ensure all required documentation is completed upon project completion and conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned.
  16. Perform any additional tasks that might be necessary for easier workflow, within the main frame of the job's specialty.

Job requirements:

Educational background and previous experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 7 years of experience managing fiber optic or telecommunications network projects, including experience in leadership roles.
  3. PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent project management certifications are highly preferred.
