Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a portfolio of projects and provide guidance and advice to fellow project managers on project management best practices and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications, relevant standards, and total quality for all contractor activities.
  • Monitor the progress of overall projects in terms of cost, planning, quality, and risks.
  • Control various site jobs related to protection replacements, ensuring adherence to approved methods, specifications, and agreed time frames, and advising corrective measures if necessary.
  • Monitor project safety, health, and environmental aspects regularly, aiming for total safety and environmentally friendly sites with zero man-hour loss.
  • Organize and lead design and supervision teams, back-office teams, and site supervision teams to complete work in coordination with engineering and construction managers.
  • Contribute to design review duties as required and per technical expertise.
  • Communicate with higher officers and clients regarding project progress, deviations, interface points, etc., to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Convene project meetings to plan activities, assess progress status, evaluate risks, and resolve issues.
  • Certify project completion and claims made by the contractor.
  • Ensure compliance and close out comments made by clients on quality, time, safety aspects, etc.
  • Produce and manage reports and necessary documentation, keeping records for project activities, progress, non-conformances, remedial actions, follow-up history, near-miss cases, lessons learned, interface cases, etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • PMP certification.
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience post-graduation, with at least 15 years of experience as a project manager in OHL, cables, and HV (400kV) substations, and expertise in dealing with power utilities (preferably in the UAE or GCC).
  • Experience with Transmission or equivalent in the region is highly desirable.
  • Strong track record in basic design and design review.
  • Ability to conduct and manage meetings efficiently.
  • Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Adequate knowledge of international standards.
