Job Purpose:
The Project Manager System Integration Bench is responsible for leading the development, deployment, and operation of system integration benches used to simulate, test, and validate UAV subsystems prior to flight testing and field deployment. This role ensures that all integrated subsystemsincluding avionics, propulsion, payloads, communications, and ground control interfacesare verified in controlled bench environments using representative hardware and software configurations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full lifecycle of system integration bench projects, including planning, development, installation, validation, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define integration bench requirements based on UAV platform architecture, subsystem interfaces, and test objectives.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans aligned with overall program milestones and delivery timelines.
- Oversee the integration of real and simulated hardware components (HIL Hardware-in-the-Loop) to support verification of functional and performance requirements.
- Coordinate the setup of power distribution, data buses (CAN, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429), networking, I/O interfaces, and software-in-the-loop capabilities.
- Ensure compatibility with avionics, flight control systems, GCS, payloads, and propulsion subsystems for end-to-end test traceability.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineers involved in bench development and operation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant aerospace and defense testing standards (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-810, GCAA, STANAG).
- Lead integration and debug activities, analyze bench test data, and resolve interface or communication issues across subsystems.
- Document system configurations, bench test procedures, and test reports, and maintain version control of software/hardware setups.
- Liaise with program managers, quality assurance, and customer representatives to support test readiness reviews and acceptance milestones.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 710 years of experience in aerospace, defense, or UAV system development, with at least 3 years in integration bench or avionics test environments.
- Proven experience in the design, development, and management of integration test benches or simulation platforms for complex aerospace systems.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems, real-time software, data buses, signal routing, and power distribution.
- Familiarity with HIL tools (e.g., dSPACE, NI PXI, LabVIEW), avionics simulation platforms, and automated test equipment (ATE).
- Proficiency in project management tools and systems engineering methodologies (e.g., V-model, MBSE).
Preferred Certifications & Competencies:
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
- ISTQB, INCOSE CSEP, or certifications in system integration and test engineering.
- Experience with DO-178C, DO-254, or safety-critical software environments.
- Familiarity with digital twins, simulation environments, and synthetic testing frameworks.
- Eligible for UAE government security clearance is highly preferred.
