ROLE SUMMARY:
The Projects Director will play a pivotal role in steering the successful execution of projects by effectively managing contractor relationships and providing vital technical support to project teams. This position is instrumental in identifying and mitigating program risks, offering strategic guidance on corrective actions to ensure project objectives are met.
In addition to overseeing project execution, the Projects Director will manage the Integrated Project Management Consultants, facilitating collaboration and communication among various stakeholders to enhance project delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
Furthermore, the Projects Director will be responsible for allocating resources efficiently, aligning them with project needs and organizational priorities to optimize productivity and achieve desired outcomes.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the implementation of program governance mechanisms and programs control standards to ensure the successful completion of projects within the program, in alignment with SAR's project management methodology.
- Coordinate all projects falling within the program and manage their interdependencies
- Manage program risks, issues, and conflicts, and advise on appropriate corrective actions
- Manage stakeholder relationships and communications ensuring stakeholder expectations and requirements are met.
- Develop program performance reports in close coordination with the Program Control and Resourcing Unit Description.
- Ensure land acquisition and surveying activities are aligned with the business plan.
- Analyze project risks and provide recommendations on the commercial position of the projects.
- Identify resources needed for each project within the program.
- Secure the best-fit program resources, and manage resource utilization across the program
- Provide project execution teams with resources across several trades: cost engineers, contracts management engineers, project engineers, etc.
- Provide technical support to the project execution team.
- Review technical design and reach out to the design firm for clarifications.
- Guide the contractor on the execution of complex engineering designs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:
- Strategic and Managerial Contribution: Aligns with SAR's strategic objectives of expanding its footprint across the Kingdom.
- Health, Safety, Environment: Complies with health and safety standards and procedures
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Monitors projects alignment with the planned overall budget.
- Self-Management: Identifies project's needs (personnel and equipment).
- Identifies needed support from other trades within the Engineering & Projects business units (mainly technical design support) .
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS (NOT EXHAUSTIVE) :
- Frequent interaction with the Engineering branch of the same business unit to align on needed technical support.
- Frequent interaction with business units.
- Frequent interaction with contractors and sub-contractors.
- Less frequent interaction with engineering design firms for clarifications on the design throughout execution.
FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES, AND DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:
- Role role holder has direct authority over its branch consisting of 3 subbranches: project management, project resources and technical support.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Basic Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Advanced Qualification: Masters degree or PhD in Engineering.
- Minimum Experience: A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a similar role
- Specific/ Relevant Experience: Leading role within an Engineering firm.
