Job Overview
The main role will entail the delivery of evidence-based, neuroaffirmative psychological therapy to young people and adults. The Psychologist will adapt therapeutic approaches based on suitability and circumstances (e.g., individual work, systemic practice, family work and group/consultation models) when and where appropriate, based on skillset. Experience with working with young people (16+) and adults is essential. Experience of at least 2 therapeutic modalities is essential. Experience working systemically (e.g., with families, couples and networks) is desirable.
The Psychologist will be responsible for conducting initial intake appointments for therapy and collaboratively deciding on an evidence-based plan for therapy. The Psychologist will work collaboratively with the systems around the person when appropriate, e.g., family and employers to ensure a holistic approach to therapeutic support.
The Psychologist will be clinically responsible for their caseload and will adhere to all local safeguarding guidelines. They will be comfortable with managing an appropriate level of risk for an outpatient clinic and liaise with psychiatrists locally to support this endeavour. The Psychologist will be responsible for keeping timely online clinical records, including a formal ICD-11 diagnosis to aid with insurance claims.
The Psychologist will from time to time provide talks, webinars or coffee mornings to key stakeholders, e.g., corporate partners, schools in the local community, or universities.
The role requires strong clinical and communication skills to facilitate collaboration between corporate partners, families, schools, and other systems around the client.
The job holder must also adhere to company policies on clinical notes documentation and maintaining a consistent and high clinical standard.
Key Accountabilities
1. Clinical Quality and Accuracy
- Use of appropriate standardized tools and evidence-based therapy.
- Clinical formulation of presenting difficulties and accurate diagnosis given.
- Effective risk assessments, safety plans, and onwards referrals for risk management where appropriate.
- Referrals to Child Protection and the CDA where appropriate.
2. Neurodiversity and Affirmative Practice
- Demonstrate neurodiversity-affirmative approaches in all aspects of the role from communication to therapeutic approaches, and any documentation.
- Engage in ongoing training and reflective practice to promote an inclusive, respectful, and strength-based approach for neurodivergent clients.
3. Timeliness and Productivity
- Efficient caseload management and appropriate scheduling of therapy sessions.
- Meeting weekly/monthly targets for psychological therapy sessions.
4. Communication and Collaboration
- Clear, respectful, and timely communication with families, caregivers and other professionals.
- Effective collaboration with multidisciplinary team members.
- Liaising with businesses, academic institutions, psychiatrists, and external stakeholders to support holistic care.
5. Documentation and Compliance
- Adherence to company policies for clinical documentation.
- Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date client records.
- Compliance with data protection, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
6. Professional Development and Supervision
- Engagement in regular supervision and reflective practice.
- Participation in relevant CPD activities and training.
- Integration of feedback into clinical practice for continuous improvement.
Qualifications/Requirements
- A minimum of a Master's Degree in Psychology that meets the requirements for CDA licensing or A minimum of a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology (M.Clin Psych) or a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PhD or Clin Psych) required to obtain a DHA license.
- It is important that candidates are licensed to practice as a Psychologist in Dubai OR in their home country. For example, HCPC UK and DHA Dubai.
- Strong skills in delivering evidence-based psychological therapy in at least 2 modalities, e.g., CBT and EMDR.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with businesses, families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework and to coordinate care across systems.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of clinical documentation and ethical practice.
- Qualifications to become a licensed Psychologist should include a practicum and supervised placements in conducting psychological therapy. Knowledge of neuro affirming practice is a must.
