QA Lead Engineer
Job Description & Skill Requirement: Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 technical support for Residential Gateways (RGW), Android STBs, and Linux STBs across live operator networks.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to WAN/LAN connectivity, Wi-Fi (2.4/5/6 GHz), VoIP, IPTV multicast/unicast, OTT streaming, and middleware applications.
- Perform log analysis (system/kernel/application logs), trace review, and packet captures (Wireshark/tcpdump/Air capture) for root cause identification.
- Validate and troubleshoot TR-069/TR-369 (USP) device management, ACS dashboard parameters, and remote provisioning issues.
- Support software/firmware upgrades, reproduce field issues in lab setups, and work closely with engineering teams to validate fixes.
- Collaborate with chipset vendors (Broadcom, Qualcomm, Amlogic, Mediatek) and R&D teams for driver, middleware, and platform-level debugging.
- Assist operator field engineers in deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of devices during customer trials and commercial rollout.
- Participate in triage calls, defect reviews, and field issue prioritization with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Document troubleshooting procedures, known issues, and solutions in knowledge base articles for internal and customer-facing teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
- Prior experience working with Tier-1 telecom operators in deployment/validation projects.
- 10-15 years of experience intechnical support, system integration, or QA with focus on Gateways and Set-Top Boxes.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (IP, TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS, PPPoE, VLAN, IPv6).
- Hands-on expertise inWi-Fi standards (802.11n/ac/ax/be), channel planning, DFS, MLO, and RF troubleshooting.
- Experience with VoIP/SIP, IMS, and IPTV/OTT streaming (Multicast, DRM, Adaptive Bitrate protocols like HLS/DASH).
- Familiarity with TR-069/TR-369 (USP), SNMP, MQTT, XMPP, and device management frameworks.
- Solid understanding of Linux internals, shell scripting, U-Boot, and embedded OS debugging.
- Knowledge of Android TV/Google TV ecosystem, ADB debugging, logcat analysis, and app-level troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with tools: Wireshark, adb, syslog, tcpdump, Jira, Confluence, ACS portals, and log analyzers.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer interaction skills.
- Experience with 5G/4G LTE CPE and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) gateways.
- Experience in CI/CD, Jenkins, or automated test frameworks.
- Familiarity with middleware platforms (SOP, AOSP).
