Job Purpose
The QA/QC Engineer (Landscaping) is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of landscaping projects by implementing and overseeing quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) processes. This role involves conducting inspections, reviewing project specifications, monitoring materials and workmanship, and ensuring adherence to industry standards, environmental regulations, and client requirements.
Working closely with project teams, contractors, and suppliers, the QA/QC Engineer ensures that all landscaping work, including softscape, hardscape, irrigation, and soil preparation, meets the highest quality and safety standards. The role also focuses on continuous improvement, defect prevention, and corrective action implementation to enhance project efficiency and sustainability.

Roles, Responsibilities, Duties
QA/QC Engineer
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Develop and implement QA/QC procedures, guidelines, and checklists for landscaping projects.
Ensure that all landscaping works comply with project specifications, industry standards, and environmental regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and quality audits to maintain high standards in project execution.
Project Inspection & Quality Control
Perform on-site inspections and testing to verify the quality of materials, workmanship, and installation processes.
Monitor softscape (plants, trees, turf) and hardscape (pavements, structures, water features, and furniture) to ensure proper execution.
Oversee the irrigation system installation and functionality, ensuring efficiency and compliance with design requirements.
Material Testing & Approval
Review and approve landscaping materials, soil quality, fertilizers, irrigation components, and plant selections.
Ensure that materials meet project standards, sustainability requirements, and environmental regulations.
Work with procurement teams to verify supplier compliance with project specifications.
Document Control & Reporting
Maintain detailed QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and compliance records.
Prepare non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective action plans, and root cause analyses for quality-related issues.
Provide regular progress reports to project managers and senior management on quality performance.
Contractor & Supplier Coordination
Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure quality standards are met.
Conduct pre-installation meetings to review project specifications and quality expectations.
Evaluate contractor work and recommend improvements or corrective measures when needed.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
Ensure all landscaping activities adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
Conduct safety inspections to identify potential hazards in landscaping construction and maintenance.
Support sustainability initiatives by promoting eco-friendly materials and water-efficient irrigation systems.
Training & Continuous Improvement
Provide training sessions for staff and contractors on quality control processes and best practices.
Identify areas for improvement and recommend innovative solutions to enhance landscaping quality.
Implement lessons learned from past projects to improve future quality standards.
Problem-Solving & Corrective Actions
Investigate quality defects, material failures, or installation issues and implement corrective actions.
Work with the project team to prevent recurring quality issues by refining procedures and standards.
Ensure that client feedback and project requirements are incorporated into continuous quality improvements.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Liaise with clients, consultants, and project managers to address quality concerns and ensure expectations are met.
Conduct site visits and joint inspections with clients to verify project quality before handover.
Assist in resolving any quality-related disputes or concerns between stakeholders.
Support in Project Handover & Final Inspection
Conduct final inspections and snag list preparation before project handover.
Ensure all QA/QC documentation, compliance certificates, and test results are submitted for project closeout.
Verify that maintenance guidelines and warranties for landscaping elements are properly documented.
Education & Qualification:
Minimum Educational Requirement
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
A Diploma in Landscape Engineering, Construction Management, or Quality Assurance may be considered with relevant experience.
Experience and Skills:
Experience:
5+ years of experience in QA/QC engineering, landscaping construction, or quality control roles within the landscaping, civil, or construction industry.
Hands-on experience in landscape project execution, quality inspections, and compliance monitoring.

Ability to assess material quality and ensure compliance with project specifications.

Experience in landscape construction methods, including grading, drainage, and paving.

Conducting quality tests on materials (e.g., soil testing, water quality, plant health assessments).
Reviewing and approving supplier materials for quality compliance.
